Receive an Insurance Check with INB's name listed? Here’s What to Do Next!

When you’ve gone through an insurance claim - whether it's hail damage or a fender bender—we’re here to help get things back on track. If you received an insurance check with both your name and INB’s, don’t worry - it’s totally normal and part of protecting your property (and your peace of mind!).

Why is INB Involved in an Insurance Claim?

INB is listed on your insurance policy if they are a lienholder for your property or vehicle. This helps make sure insurance funds are used to repair or restore your assets - keeping your investment (and ours) protected.

Home Insurance Checks

If your home is secured by a mortgage or home equity loan with INB:

Bring the following to your local INB branch when cashing the check:

  • Your insurance adjuster’s report and claim paperwork
  • A repair estimate from the contractor
  • The check made payable to you and INB

Auto Insurance Checks

For auto loans through INB, please bring in the following when cashing your insurance check:

  • Your insurance adjuster’s report and claim paperwork
  • A repair estimate from the body shop
  • The check made payable to you and INB

Prefer to handle things by mail or email? No problem - contact us, and we’ll walk you through it.

Paying Off Your Loan with Insurance Funds

Sometimes, your insurance proceeds may be enough to pay off your INB loan entirely. If that’s the route you’d like to take, we can help make it happen smoothly.

The first step to take to pay off your loan is to call INB at 877-771-2316 or email payoffs@inb.com to request your exact payoff amount.

Once you have the correct amount, you have a few options to send us the payment:

  • Ask for our wiring instructions or send your payment electronically
  • Ask us to transfer the funds from your INB account to your loan
  • Mail a check to: INB Attn: Loan Operations 322 E Capitol Ave, Springfield, IL 62701
  • Visit an INB branch or use one of our convenient Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs)

What if Your Auto Loan or Mortgage is Paid off?

If you've fully paid off your mortgage or your auto loan, contact your insurance company or local insurance agent to remove INB as the lienholder on your policy.  This will quicken the process up in the future and potentially save you a few dollars on your insurance premium!
