Glenwood High School students got a lesson on personal finance recently thanks to INB’s Chatham Branch Manager Kelly Raison and Trainer and Job Coach Nadine Mackenzie. Using Dave Ramsey’s Foundations in Personal Finance Program developed for high school students, Kelly and Nadine talked about checking accounts, debit cards and the importance of a healthy financial life from a young age. Kelly and Nadine also shared how technology, such as online banking, is wonderful, but its ease can make it easy to spend more money than you actually have if you’re not keeping track of your expenses. They also discussed savings accounts, loans and credit cards.
INB’s Investment Officer Jonathan Leonard is scheduled to make a presentation to the same students in early November on investments and retirement savings. According to Kelly, “The students were very engaged” in the first presentation, and she expects the same for Jonathan. He will also use content provided by Dave Ramsey.
More on Dave Ramsey
INB supports the Ramsey concepts; we even sponsor his radio show on WMAY. According to the WMAY website, “Ramsey is America’s trusted voice on money and business. He’s a money expert and host of one of the most popular talk-radio shows in America.
“His four New York Times best-selling books – Financial Peace, More Than Enough, The Total Money Makeover, and EntreLeadership – have sold more than 7 million copies combined.
“Dave wasn’t handed the keys to a multi-million dollar company. After hitting rock bottom at the age of 30, Dave started his business on a card table in his living room. During the next 20 years, he steadily grew that business from the ground up.”
