Sean Daniel Nation found plenty to do as a Riverton High School senior. He was in Hawk Pride, Spanish Club, Engineering Club, Hawk 101, on the Math Team, and WYSE. He ran cross country and played baseball all four years of high school and served four years as stage crew manager. Prior to senior year he played basketball, was on the golf team and participated in Scholastic Bowl. All of this helped him earn the school’s April Student of the Month Award, a recognition sponsored by Illinois National Bank (INB).
Because of his many activities and academic success, Nation has earned a number of other awards and recognitions. They include: IHSA Scholar Athlete, National Honor Society member, National Technical Honor Society member, Southern Illinois University-Carbondale (SIU-C) Honors Program, Socrates Award, three-time student of the month, and a varsity letter winner in cross country, baseball, basketball and golf.
Nation plans to attend SIU-C to study computer engineering.
Russ and Wendy Nation are his parents. He was chosen for the Student of the Month Award by the staff and faculty of RHS based on attendance, academics, effort, conduct, cooperation, dependability, leadership, school involvement, and service to others. He received $25 from INB and was eligible for 2014-2015 Student of the Year honors at graduation.
