Pleasant Plains High School senior, Mia Taft, impressed her literature teachers so much that she was awarded a “Best Writers” certificate and September senior of the month honors. In addition, she was an Illinois Level 3 semi-finalist for the Letters About Literature contest.
Mia is a member of the National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America (FFA), marching band, Beta Club and is Spanish Club co-president. She also enjoyed her two seasons playing soccer. Like her sister, Mia dedicates time to West Side Christian Church, her home away from home.
Mia plans to attend Lincoln Land Community College next fall. She would like to transfer to a Christian college with a double major in Intercultural Studies and Elementary Education with endorsements in Special Education and English as a second language.
Her twin sister, Chloe Taft, was most recently awarded the August senior of the month. Parents, Teresa and Alex Taft, are thrilled to have both daughters honored for their hard work.
The Senior-of-the-Month Program is sponsored by Illinois National Bank. Monthly winners receive a $50 award. They are also in the running for the $500 Senior-of-the-Year Award also sponsored by INB.
