Allyssa Yard, Riverton student of the monthAlyssa Yard ended the first semester of her high school year on top as Riverton High School’s December Student-of-the-Month. While her high school days are numbered, Allyssa is prepared to continue her education after she graduates. She plans to study nursing at Lincoln Land Community College and University of Illinois Springfield.

Until then, she’ll continue her cheerleading and participation in Hawk Pride, National Honor Society, student council and Hawk Leadership. Thanks to her participation AND earning good grades, she’s been named an all-area cheerleader, all-American cheerleaders, Illinois State Scholar and homecoming queen. She’s made it to the school’s Superior Honor Roll since she was a freshman.

Allyssa, the daughter of Joffre Werner and Candace Yard, was chosen for the December honor by faculty and staff based on attendance, academics, effort, conduct, cooperation, dependability, leadership, school involvement, and service to others.

The Student-of-the-Month Program is sponsored by Illinois National Bank. Monthly winners receive a $50 award. They are also in the running for the $500 Student-of-the-Year Award also sponsored by INB.
