These students were selected as seniors of the month at Mount Pulaski High School (MPHS) based on the criteria of scholarship, leadership, service and character.
November 2019 – Olivia Cooper
Olivia Cooper, daughter of Janette and Chad Cooper of Mt. Pulaski, was named November- Senior-of-the-Month.
Olivia stays actively involved at MPHS with sports and clubs. For the past four years she has been a member of Future Farmers of America (FFA), serving as secretary this year. She has also been a member of Spanish Club for four years and is an officer this year. She has been a member of the Yearbook Committee for three years and on National Honor Society (NHS) and Prom Committee for the last two years. She is an athlete as well, playing softball since she was a freshman, basketball three years, and soccer for one year.
Olivia earned science student of the year recognition her freshman year and has been on the High Honor Roll since freshman year.
Olivia plans to attend Millikin University to pursue a degree in teaching and play softball.
December 2019 – Amelia Kuhlman
Amelia Kuhlman, daughter of Kati Buckles of Athens and Jason Kuhlman of Elkhart, was named December-Senior-of-the-Month.
Amelia has been active in numerous organizations during her time at MPHS. She has been a member of FFA, Drama Club, and Pep Band for four years. She has been a member of NHS for two years and on Student Council for one year.
Amelia is a member of the Mount Pulaski Christian Church where she has taken part in the youth group for four years; and volunteers at Big Wednesday. She works part-time at The Clothing Rack in Sherman.
Amelia earned the Star Greenhand in FFA for being the most active, first-year member. She plans to attend Northern Illinois University and major in hospitality and tourism.
January 2020 – Paige Stewart
Paige Stewart, daughter of John and Dede Stewart of Mt. Pulaski, was named January-Senior-of-the-Month.
Paige is very involved at MPHS. She has been a FFA member for four years and now serves as president. She has also played volleyball. She has been on Student Council for four years and class secretary for two years. She is also a member of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and the yearbook staff for 1 year.
Paige has volunteered at the Lake Fork Community Sale and the Blood Drive and Clothing Drive at MPHS. On top of that, she also works as a waitress at Pizza Man and babysits.
Paige has consistently been on the High Honor Roll at MPHS and plans to attend either ISU and major in business or attend SIU and major in aviation management.
February 2020 – Autumn Benhart
Autumn Benhart, daughter of Jason and Kelley Benhart of Mt. Pulaski, was named February-Senior-of-the-Month.
Autumn is a member of the soccer team, trap shooting team and cheerleading squad. She also is a member of FCCLA, Student Council, NHS, Spanish Club, and Drama Club. In addition to her activities, Autumn excels in academics. She earned her Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish her junior year.
Autumn also is involved in the community as a member of Girl Scouts and Youth Group at Mount Pulaski Christian Church. She has also worked as a lifeguard at the pool in Mount Pulaski. She plans on attending Olivet Nazarene and majoring in interior design.
