Even business owners who work close to an INB branch are happy they don’t have to leave their office to deposit checks – particularly during the highs and lows of Midwest weather.

“Many of my customers tell me they love not having to go out in the weather – getting out when it is super cold or super hot can be miserable!” shares Brenda Tuttle, VP, Business Solutions at INB.

Jami Lewis explains Remote Deposit Capture to a client

What service keeps them comfortable in their office space? INB’s Remote Deposit Capture, which can be done at your convenience 24/7, giving you faster access to the money your business has worked hard to earn.

What is Remote Deposit Capture?

Remote deposit capture (RDC) technology helps to streamline and improve the efficiency of one area of bank operations: processing check deposits. Using RDC, a user can scan checks and transmit the scanned images to a bank for posting and clearing.

Called “the most important development the banking industry has seen in years” by the Federal Reserve, RDC allows you to “deposit” checks electronically at a remote location (usually your office) for virtually instant credit to your account.

When you’re a business owner, time is money. RDC gives you time savings so you can focus more on your overall business.

“For a lot of our customers, it frees up time so they don’t have to spend their days running to the bank to make deposits,” says Jami Lewis, Deposit Operations Specialist. “And we don’t have branches all over, so this allows our customers in areas that don't have a branch to still be able to deposit money with INB.”

INB employee Jami Lewis finds joy in helping business customer with RDC.

How does RDC work?

When you contact us about RDC at INB, we’ll get you set up with the correct account and then install a check scanner in your office so you can make any of your deposits electronically.

Depending on what you need, you may be ready to go in just a couple of days – and with no upfront costs for the scanner or service.

And when you need to check on your deposits, the reporting side is easy too.

Simply pull up your online banking account for a list of the checks you’ve deposited and you’ll be able to see the images of them too. Rather than needing to call a banker to get information, you can see the history of your deposits and sort them by date and other information.

“Some of our customers used to make copies of their checks and deposit tickets before they went to the bank, but there’s no need to do that with RDC. It keeps an electronic repository of the front and back of each of your checks and deposit slips for two years,” Brenda notes.

You don’t have to wait long to view your latest deposits either.

“The money is usually available in a couple of hours,” Jami says. “We have sweep times that happen on the hour every hour, so it is usually about an hour after that that you can see the funds in your account. It’s very fast.”

INB is always at the forefront of technology solutions so we can continue to make banking easier for you. Saving significant time and effort, reducing paper waste, and keeping clear deposit records for your business are big wins for Remote Deposit Capture at INB.

“Our customers love it,” Jami shares. “Everything is done on the computer now, and it’s a very smooth, user-friendly process.”
