Weekends have become increasingly frustrating for Nick Newton.

“I’m trying to figure out why I can’t hit a golf ball where I want to hit it,” he laughs.

Thankfully we can’t say the same about his weekdays – Nick’s been on the ball when it comes to his role at INB. And his hard work has not gone unnoticed.

Nick was recently promoted to Assistant Vice President!

Nick first started at INB five years ago, following a summer internship with Commercial Lending. He took on a position as Accounting Specialist in summer 2018, and then he moved to his current position of Portfolio Manager for Commercial Lending in March 2022.

Throughout his time at INB so far, he most enjoys collaborating with staff in various departments across the bank.

“I’m fortunate to have the chance to work with a wide range of people and work on exciting projects – which keeps things interesting,” he shares. “I’ve had the opportunity to work with a lot of great people and have some great mentors along the way.”

As Portfolio Manager, Nick tracks trends in loans, fees and deposits, which is helpful for our lending team. In his role, he has taken one of INB’s primary loan origination systems and turned it into a valuable tool for analyzing liquidity, concentrations, loan yields and officer pipelines.

He also manages 4 employees in Portfolio Management and 2 employees in Consumer Lending, as well as serving as the bank’s CRA officer.

“He’s been instrumental in working with our accounting department to accurately report for the Commercial Lending department and its locations,” says John Wilson, INB’s Executive Vice President and Chief Lender.

Looking forward, Nick is excited to take on more responsibility and grow with INB.

“I’m grateful to be recognized with this promotion,” he says.
