Amanda Johnson loves Christmas. To quote Buddy the Elf, “I know Santa!” she laughs.
Amanda spent 12 years managing the Festival of Trees, a Christmas-themed fundraising event for Memorial Health in Springfield.
“I loved working with a large team of volunteers to put on such a successful event that was a holiday tradition for so many,” she says. “I am an extrovert and like collaborating with people.”
Amanda, a seasoned event manager, decided that project management was a natural next step for her. In spring 2023, she stepped into a new role: Project Manager and Officer at INB!
Event Planning, Banking Collide
Originally from Missouri, Amanda moved to Riverton when she was in elementary school. While she received her degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa, she moved back to Illinois a few years later to start her family.
Amanda is highly experienced in managing major projects and events, but she’s no stranger to banking. She previously worked at two different banks in the 1990s.
“Since coming on board at INB, I have enjoyed learning about IT and the many changes in banking that have happened since I last worked in a bank,” she says.
Amanda has a broad skillset including project and event management, community outreach and engagement, marketing, and communications. Being a creative team player who strives to build lasting relationships, she’s the ideal fit for this new role at INB.
Family, Travel, Community – Now INB
Not surprisingly, Amanda’s life outside of the office is also centered around people. Amanda and her husband, Tom, have been married for 23 years and have one daughter, Mackenna, who is 16, and two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
“On the weekends, you can find me enjoying wine with my friends or rooting on a Chicago or University of Illinois sports team. I like to stay busy and am always working on a project at home,” she says. “I also love to travel and am always planning trips. I’ve been to Europe three times and 36 states.”
Amanda is a graduate of Leadership Springfield and enjoys serving her community on various nonprofit boards and fundraising events.
And when she gets time to herself, she’ll most likely be watching HGTV or listening to true crime podcasts.
As she brings strong connections and diverse experience to her new position, INB is glad to welcome Amanda to manage the many exciting projects we are undergoing as we grow and serve our dedicated customers!
“I am currently working on my Project Management Professional certification, and I look forward to establishing the Project Management office and project management standards for INB,” Amanda says.
