It was a passing conversation with his basketball coach that changed Dalton Garecht’s career path and led him to our north branch.
“He asked if I was going to college, and when I said no, he asked what my plans for the future were,” Dalton recalls. “I explained I was not sure what I wanted to do, but he talked to me about banking.”
That coach happened to be INB Executive Vice President Pat Phalen, and after that conversation, Dalton went straight home to fill out an application.
Dalton joined INB in February 2021 as a teller at the INB Dirksen branch. And most recently, he’s been promoted to Assistant Branch Manager.
After coming on as a teller, Dalton quickly showed initiative for more responsibility and was promoted to Relationship Banker in August 2021 and then to Branch Operations Supervisor in February 2023. He has excelled in the Branch Operations Supervisor position, which includes both an operational and sales focus.
‘Variety’ the Spice of an Assistant Managers Life
“My favorite part about my job is that it never is the same two days in a row,” Dalton says. “I enjoy the feeling when you are able to help a customer and seeing the relief in their faces when we get the solution for them.”
When he’s not on the clock, Dalton’s world consists of racing or riding dirt bikes.
“My dad is the one who got me into racing, and it has been our thing ever since. We have gotten to see lots of cool places racing and even tried some really good restaurants,” he shares. “And if we are not doing something with dirt bikes, it’s probably November, and we are in deer stands.”
Nick Bodine Steps Up for Pleasant Plains Community
Dalton’s not the only one hunting in his spare time. Pleasant Plains has a new Assistant Branch Manager as well, who can be found hunting, fishing and riding ATVs around the community.
Nicholas Bodine moved to Pleasant Plains in 2005 and decided to apply for a teller position because his house was across the street from the INB branch there.
Now he has more than eight years of banking experience with strong knowledge of branch operations.
“In this new role as Assistant Branch Manager, I hope to provide our clients with a trusted source for all their financial needs,” Nick says.
Father of three, Nick is also a culinary arts school graduate who loves to cook. In fact, even when at his favorite restaurant, Alexander’s Steakhouse, Nick prefers to prepare his own steak!
Both Dalton and Nick look forward to serving INB customers in their new roles as Assistant Branch Managers.
“I’m proud to be moving up in banking and hope to continue growing in this industry,” Dalton shares. “I look forward to continuing to prove my abilities, learn as much as I can and make sure the North branch is a positive and successful branch!”
