Allison Trelz knows that continuing education is a vital part of the ever-evolving industry of banking. Determined to stay at the forefront of banking changes, she was thrilled to get the opportunity to attend the Financial Managers School in late 2024.
The Financial Managers School is a one-week immersive program hosted by the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
Designed by experienced CFOs especially for financial managers at community banks, the school takes attendees beyond the basics to present best practices and crucial tools needed to build a solid foundation in asset/liability management.
Immersed in Bank Industry Concepts
“Over the course of a week, we took classes on capital planning, economics and monetary policy, investment strategies, funding strategies, derivatives, and pricing,” Allison shares. “As a group, we analyzed several case studies to deepen our understanding of the concepts presented.”
Alongside 65 other attendees from around the country, Allison dove into learning about practical implementation tools to profitably manage a financial institution’s balance sheet, develop effective strategies, and communicate strategies to the board and senior management for more effective decision-making.
“This program deepened my understanding of key banking industry concepts,” she says.
