INB is proud to announce two staff members who have been elected to leadership positions within the 2023 Illinois Jaycees Executive Team.
Andi Whalen, AVP and Branch Manager for INB Bloomington and Champaign, was elected to Programming Vice President, and Lanna Bartko, Branch Operations Supervisor at INB’s Champaign Branch, was elected to Administrative Vice President.
The Illinois Jaycees are part of a global network of more than 5000 chapters with over 200,000 members in 120 countries around the world.
Leadership development through community involvement has been the basis of the Jaycees since its inception in 1920. The goal of the not-for-profit organization is to provide members a means to reach their full potential through networking and personal growth opportunities and is ideal for proactive young people, ages 18 to 40.
Community involvement is also a cornerstone of the Jaycees, who frequently are engaged with projects like supporting diverse nonprofit programs, aiding with national and international disaster relief, or running festivals and fundraisers for worthwhile causes.
Andi has been involved in the Illinois Jaycees since 2017.
“Through the Jaycees, I discovered two of my biggest passions: my community and personal development,” she says. “The thing I love the most is watching people grow through service to their community. Whether it’s running a project, speaking up in a meeting, or just trying something new, the Jaycees always have room for you to grow into the best version of yourself.”
Andi looks forward to continuing to give back as a member of the state Executive Team after serving several years at the local level.
“I want to help Illinois chapters thrive and continue to be safe spaces for people to grow and positively impact their community,” Andi shares. “I look forward to working next to strong, smart and capable women over the next year as we face new challenges, and I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together.”
And it was through Jaycees that Andi and Lanna met, after Lanna joined the Champaign-Urbana Jaycees chapter in March 2018. Thanks to that connection, Lanna joined INB’s staff! She now anticipates a productive year on the Jaycees Executive Team.
“When I joined, I never could have imagined the impact this organization and each of its members would have on my life. The Jaycees provide me with the opportunity to show the love my grandfather taught me for the community and to continue his work and legacy with some of my best friends at my side,” Lanna says. “Moving into my new role as Administrative Vice President will present new challenges, but with this team of amazing women, the sky’s the limit. I am looking forward to supporting each Jaycee and their chapters to empower them to achieve their goals and to grow with this amazing organization.”
