First week of football play nets $133 for charity

9/10/2014

Springfield, Illinois – Sept. 3, 2014 The first week of Central State Eight high school football kicked off the first donation to Touchdown for the Table, a promotion being sponsored by Illinois National Bank. For every point scored at the 21 football games broadcast on Sports Radio 1450 and WCVS, INB will make a $1 donation which will benefit three charities providing food to those in need this holiday season.

"We started this promotion with a significant contribution of $133 thanks to the football teams playing last Friday night," says Executive Vice President Patrick Phalen.  "Both SHG and Rochester scored big numbers, so we’re confident by the end of the season, we’ll be making a substantial donation to the charities."

Touchdowns for the Table proceeds will support these organizations:
  • Friend-in-Deed provides food at Christmas for needy families in the Springfield area and makes funds available year round in the form of cash grants to families for disaster relief.
  • Kids Café is a partnership between the Springfield Urban League and the Central Illinois Foodbank, feeding 75-100 children each day.
  • St. Martin de Porres’ mission is to lovingly serve the needy with dignity. The agency provides food to over 140 families each day it is open.

INB is participating in the promotion as part of the bank’s 15 Random Acts of Kindness in celebration of its 15th anniversary year. Follow Illinois National Bank on Facebook for weekly updates on the total donation.
