Illinois National Bank (INB) in Springfield was honored as a 2007 Illinois Bank Community Service Award Winner by the Illinois Bankers Association. The award was presented to bank president and CEO Richard McCord on June 15 during the 116th Annual IBA Conference and Trade Show at the Keystone Resort and Conference Center in Keystone, Colorado.
The Illinois Bank Community Service award honors Illinois financial institutions that demonstrate a high level of service in their communities. Three other Illinois banks earned the prestigious award: Cambridge Bank in Lake Zurich, Grundy Bank in Morris and the State Bank of Bement.
Among many of INB’s programs, contributions and projects, the bank and its employees have contributed more than $357,000 to the United Way of Central Illinois since 1999. They also contribute extensively to the American Red Cross. Employees of the bank host local school children in dozens of branch visits each year, and they participate in Teach Children to Save Day each April.
The bank’s commitment to preservation and the arts is readily apparent. Renovation of the main branch cost more than $1 million and took more than three years to complete. Renovation of the former Jennings Auto Dealership into the INB Conference and Operations center cost more than $5 million and took nearly two years to complete. The renovation of the main bank was recognized with awards from the Mayor of Springfield and Downtown Springfield, Inc. The Conference Center is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and also was recognized with awards from Downtown Springfield and the Main Street USA program.
The Illinois Bankers Association is a full-service trade association dedicated to creating a positive business climate that benefits the entire banking industry. Founded in 1891, the IBA is the only banking trade association in the state that represents financial institutions of all sizes. Membership includes community banks, regional banks, holding companies, savings and loan associations, savings banks, and organizations that serve the banking industry. The IBA has two offices: one in the State Capitol complex in Springfield and the other in the heart of Chicago’s financial district.
