Midwest roots brought Kelley Himmelberg and her family to the Springfield area after spending the first part of her married life in Florida. The St. Louis native got started in banking shortly after the 1994 move.

Kelley started her Springfield career at First of America’s Remittance Processing Center on the Old State Capitol square. “I was the second shift data manager,” explains Kelley. She joined INB’s accounting department in September of 2000, when INB acquired the Remittance Center. “We were a department of two at the time,” she explains. “I worked closely with Deposit Operations and began my career in banking. After being the assistant controller for a period of time, I realized that I enjoyed working with others and took a position in the Human Resources department in 2008. I went back to college and received my bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Greenville College.”

Kelley says she enjoys working with her INB co-workers. “I have known many of them for over 20 years,” she says, “and we have grown to be a family. My job is versatile – I still get to wear my ‘accounting hat’ when I prepare budgets and payroll, yet I interact with others as I plan employee events. I have played an active role in representing INB with the local United Way. I volunteer one lunch a week to help children learn to read at McClernand Elementary.”

Kelley also calls herself “a real estate junkie.” In her off time, she and her husband renovate homes. “My husband and I have successfully flipped many foreclosures,” she says. She also enjoys spending time with her three grown children.
